Location : Denpasar – Bali – Indonesia Size : 500 m2
Typology : Private House

Year 2019
One of the unique aspects about this house is requirement from the owner to allow users of the building next to it (a mosque) to utilize the private parking space during Jumu’ah (Friday) prayer and along the month of Ramadhan without interfering with the owner’s privacy.
To anticipate this requirement, we push back the house to allow additional space for off-road parking and at the same time give more distance for a better view point from the road. The next step is separating the garage and the entrance courtyard with operable panel that can open and close depending on the condition.
Architecturally, we push the high part of the house as a background, choose earth colour as a base tone and keep the street elevation low to create a “humble” look from the street sight.
Another interesting aspect on this project is the sustainability challenge of the interior especially because the building is located in an urban area in Denpasar city where it is surrounded by buildings
